Coursework

As a Magazine, News and Digital Journalism student at Newhouse, I've taken various classes that have sharpened my writing, interviewing, research and pitching skills.

Here are select pieces.

Magazine Article Writing

I am currently taking a magazine article writing class where we write various types of magazine pieces. Profiles, service stories, pitches, reporting plans and more --- I have a lot of fun playing with the different kinds of writing.

Reporting

In fall of 2024, I took a reporting class. My beat was housing, where I wrote a total of five stories covering different aspects of the housing situation in the Syracuse area. The city is in the midst of a housing crisis. Syracuse has the most competitive rental market in the country, despite its inadequate housing conditions. Rates of homelessness continue to rise. Childhood lead poisoning in homes has been an issue for over 50 years.

From city legislators to nonprofit leaders to advocates, I learned about the issues Syracuse residents face for one of the most fundamental human needs: a home.
